How to Receive Assistance

All residents diagnosed with cancer and in active treatment in the Mahoning Valley Region are eligible to apply for assistance from The Silver Lining Cancer Fund.

The Mahoning Valley Region includes these counties:

Ohio: Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana
Pennsyvlania: Mercer and Lawrence

The Fund pays in increments of $150.00 per month. The money can be used to pay for gasoline, food, electric, heating, or any expense other than medical costs.

The Fund takes applications from cancer patients who need help paying daily expenses. Physicians, patients, and other interested parties should contact The Silver Lining Cancer Fund to apply for assistance for themselves or for someone they know is in need of help to receive or continue treatment for cancer.

Assistance can cover:
- drug and medication costs
- transportation to local or distant medical facilities
- other various household expenses

Items not eligible for assistance:
- physician fees
- inpatient hospital bills
- any cost covered by insurance programs or third party carrier
- costs covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or medical assistance
- costs not directly related to treatment of malignant diseases
